Second Thessalonians

Chapter 1

Gods judgment is right and God is just because he pays back trouble to those who trouble you and gives relief to people who are troubled. And all this will happen when our Lord Jesus Christ returns from heaven along side his powerful angels. That’s why we must stay ready for his return and pray that God will give us deep conviction every time we sin against him. God is faithful in keeping his promises and to those who truly follow him, they will surely be in heaven when the time comes. But those who choose not to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, they will be punished as verse 9 says with everlasting destruction and shall be shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified.

Chapter 2

This chapter starts off by assuring us that the day of the Lord hasn’t yet come and that before he comes, the rebellion will occur where the man of lawlessness will be revealed. So therefore we should not be deceived by anyone neither should we be afraid because the scriptures tell us in verse 8 that our Lord Jesus will overthrow the lawless one with the breath of his mouth and that he will destroy by splendor of his coming. It continues by saying the devil will deceive those who are perishing (the ones who refused to love the truth and be saved) and that God will send a powerful delusion to those who have refused to accept the truth of the gospel and failed to believe in it. So the ones who rejected Christ will believe the lies of the enemy and perish.

The section following this part is titled Stand Firm, and it’s encouraging people to follow the teachings of the Bible they’ve been taught and when we do accept Christ, we must share the gospel as well. The chapter closes off with a prayer from Paul asking God to encourage our hearts and strengthen us in every good deed and word.

Chapter 3

Paul writes a prayer request in the opening paragraph for the message of the Lord to spread rapidly and for the deliverance from the wicked and evil people because he says that not everyone has faith. Paul warns us in the next section to keep away from every believer who is idle: A person avoiding work;lazy, and that we should follow in Paul’s example. Paul says that he wasn’t idle at all. In fact, he worked night and day laboring in order for him not to be a burden to any of us and for him to be a model for us to imitate.

Paul urges everyone who is a busybody in the name of Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. He tells us to never get tired of doing what is good for the Kingdom of God. Paul tells us not to associate with anyone who doesn’t obey his instructions so that they may feel ashamed. He adds on by saying that we shouldn’t call them an enemy though, but warn them as we would with a fellow believer. He ends off with final greetings in which he distinguishes himself as the author of his writings and says that the grace of God be with us all.
